Putting a new book baby out into the world is always quite terrifying. You don’t really think about it when you’re writing it. You put it out of your mind while you’re editing it. But when you start marketing it and the release day looms large, the thought of how it’s going to be received invades every waking moment.
And so you send it out to ARC readers and serious reviewers with a big, sloppy kiss and a pat on the butt, and you say, “Good luck, kid.” And you think, please don’t come home crying.
Then you wait a while, nibbling your nails and such, until you check Goodreads for the verdict.
“I loved this book—I highly recommend this book,
First time ARC reader, Goodreads
and I can’t wait for the rest of the groups stories!!.”
Phew! But in six days, the real test begins. Will you love it? God damn, I hope so!

“This is without a doubt my absolute ‘rescue-from-a-fire’ level favourite Helena Harte book.”
